“I am driven by mission and value helping people connect their strengths to meaningful work. When purpose guides people, impact follows – and finding the leaders who make that impact last is legacy work.”

Demeika Wheaton is a strategist, advisor, and people‑first leader who has spent more than 25 years helping mission‑driven organizations navigate complexity, strengthen their voice, and create meaningful impact. As a Director at Boardwalk Consulting, she partners with nonprofits to identify leaders who can advance missions that shape communities and change lives.

Before joining Boardwalk, Demeika served as Senior Vice President and Market Lead at Porter Novelli, a global communications agency, where she led integrated teams, championed culture, and served as a trusted advisor to nonprofit, government, and corporate clients. She guided organizations through high‑stakes challenges, helping leaders make decisions with clarity and confidence while protecting their reputations and ensuring alignment with organizational values. Her expertise spans strategic communications planning, executive counsel, stakeholder engagement, brand storytelling, issues preparedness, and change management.

Demeika is driven by a deep belief in mission, community, and helping people tap into their strengths to create lasting impact. She has coached and advised leaders at every level, facilitated strategic conversations, and designed award‑winning campaigns that drive behavior change and improve outcomes for women, youth, families, and communities.

Her experience and special interests in health equity, youth development, education, communities of faith, the arts, and social justice give her a nuanced understanding of the issues shaping these sectors and strengthens her subject‑matter expertise as a trusted advisor to clients.

An experienced facilitator, Demeika is known for her ability to engage and bring out the best in others. She develops and delivers training on topics such as goal setting, ways of working, belonging, courageous conversations, inclusive culture, and spiritual gifts. She leads from her strengths – Developer, Belief, Connectedness, Maximizer, and Empathy – which shape her approach to leadership, client service, and relationship building.

In addition to her commitment to client service excellence, Demeika is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders. She partners with her husband to coach high school students, college students, and early‑career professionals on communication, personal branding, and life skills. She serves on the board of the Forum for Theological Exploration, has worked with students in the Atlanta University Center, and is a regular presenter and coach for the National Urban League’s Emerging Leaders Program in partnership with Georgetown University’s Business for Impact.

Demeika is deeply engaged in community work focused on health equity, education, and leadership development. As a maternal health advocate and no‑limit nurturer, she also supports families as a birthing coach and doula, extending her passion for care, equity, and empowerment into the community.
